Policy Statement
Residents and fellows are provided with both short-term and long-term disability coverage on the first day they are required to report to their program. To successfully complete a residency or fellowship program, all residents and fellows must meet the essential requirements of their training program. Residents and fellows with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations to meet these essential requirements. Our Graduate Medical Education (GME) training programs are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to residents and fellows with documented disabilities ) that may impact their ability to fully participate in training activities or meet program requirements. To be eligible for accommodations, residents/fellows must work with the University of Minnesota Disability Resource Center (DRC). The DRC reviews disability documentation and recommends appropriate accommodations for employees and students with disabilities, including those in GME training programs
